The Tongue

Assalamu alaikum warahmatullah,

In our last halaqah on March 22nd, we spoke about the importance of guarding the tongue. We discussed some of the things that we should watch out for. If anyone has good notes please do post them here for people who couldn't make it. Also, if anyone would like to add any comments or reflections on the topic please do share!

wassalamu alaikum,
Dana

I hope everyone is doing well and dandy. I just want to say that the topic of the tongue is quite a crucial one when it comes down to it. It is something we should always be conscious of, always read to guard when needed.

When I think about it, its so sad how I cant even control my natural senses most of the time, let alone trying to control anything else. The ears that Allah has given us we use to listen to haraam, the eyes that Allah has given us, we use to look at haraam, and the beautiful gift of speech that He, the Merciful has given us, we never seem to use in rememberance of its' Creator.

After last week's halaqa, I realized to what extent I have control over these natural senses, very little that is, but I'm trying, step by step to bring all of them into harmony with the Will of Allah. Inshaallah, we all can, because if He wanted to, he could take ALL of it away within a second, and no force of the earth could stop it. SubhanAllah, wa Alhamdullilah.

wa alaikum assalam warahmatullah Zuhal,

Jazakillah khair for sharing your thoughts on the topic of the tongue. It is certainly one of the issues that we tend to neglect because we don't realize the danger and harm it can cause to us and to others as well.

The halaqah also helped me realize that I need to really watch myself as well, we all need these reminders.

We should always keep in mind that Allah (swt) doesn't burden a soul with more than it can handle, and if He wants us to be a certain way then we certainly can be. We just have to want to, and we have to work hard to attain it.

wassalamu alaikum,
